Lac La Biche County believes in supporting groups and initiatives that enhance and strengthen our community. The County offers a wide range of grants and funding opportunities every year.
The grants described on this page are administered separately from the grants available through Lac La Biche County Family and Community Support Services (FCSS). Please refer to the Grants & Funding Guide below to learn more about the grants offered and how to apply for them.

Funding Agreement - Applicants chosen to receive a community grant are required to sign a funding agreement. You can view a copy of the Grant Agreement Template by clicking on the link below. The specific provisions of the actual agreement may vary from the example provided.
COVID Relief Support Program (County Policy FIN-71-026) (Currently Not Offered)
The COVID Relief Support Program provides funding to eligible non-profit organizations to offset incremental previously incurred expenses or previously incurred deficits as a direct result of COVID-19.
The County previously offered two separate application intakes. Currently, the County has not announced any future intakes.
Ad Hoc Grants (County Policy FIN-71-005)
The County recognizes that some requests do not fit into any grant programs. Requests of this type are considered Ad Hoc Requests.
Generally, organizations or individuals may submit up to $1,000 Ad Hoc Requests for small “everyday” requests throughout the year. These will be reviewed regularly by Lac La Biche County Administration. To apply, organizations need to submit a request letter. The request letter can be sent to carl.kurppa@laclabichecounty.com
Things to include in a funding request letter:
- Description of your request.
- Official name of the organization requesting funding.
- Brief description of your organization.
- Name and position of the person making the request (if no official position, specify your affiliation to the organization).
- How the funding will be used.
- How the County’s contribution will be acknowledged.
- Contact info (phone number, email, mailing address).
Large Ad Hoc Requests will be considered, but are subject to a more involved review process, where organizations may be required to submit a formal business case and other supporting documentation. Before submitting a large Ad Hoc request, the applicant should first contact the County to discuss the feasibility of the request and determine how to proceed.
Large Ad Hoc requests often require applicants to present their request to Council.
Event Sponsorship and Donations (County Policy FIN-71-023)
Requests for events like golf tournaments, fundraising dinners and banquets, awards dinners, and conferences can be submitted throughout the year. These requests will be normally be considered for up to $1,500. There is no strict eligibility criteria for these requests.
To apply, organizations need to submit a request letter. The request letter can be sent to carl.kurppa@laclabichecounty.com.

Event Grant Program (County Policy FIN-71-024)
The Event Grant Program is available to eligible organizations to assist with event hosting costs for events in Lac La Biche County. The objective of the program is to sustain existing high-profile events and encourage new high-profile events.
Events which are seeking large financial contributions and need County funding in order to make the event viable should apply under this program, rather than under the Event Sponsorship and Donations funding stream.

Capital Projects Assistance Grant (County Policy FIN 71-002)
The Capital Projects Assistance Grant provides eligible Cultural and Recreational Organizations with project based funding. The funding is intended to help restore, enhance or build facilities and improvements, or to enable organizations to purchase equipment and goods that will improve or maintain the delivery of services.
Eligible Projects include:
- Building new facilities and infrastructure (community centres, playgrounds, etc.)
- Purchasing new equipment for facilities (appliances, machinery, etc.)
- Renovating existing facilities.
The deadline to submit an application is normally October 31 for funding requests for the next year.

Recreational/Cultural Operating Program (County Policy FIN-71-021)
The Recreational/Cultural Operating Program is available to eligible organizations for operational expenses. These operational expenses must be those that generally reoccur from year to year and are those which exist presently. These operational expenses must be connected to the organization’s facilities, and the programs and services delivered from those facilities.
The deadline to submit an application is normally October 31 for funding requests for the next operating year.

Community Cemetery Improvement Program
The Community Cemetery Improvement Program provides eligible cemeteries in Lac La Biche County with project-based funding. The funding is intended to help these cemeteries complete projects that will improve cemetery operations and longevity.
The deadline to submit applications is normally in the spring, and will be announced in the local newspaper and on the County’s website.

Sporting Event Attendance Funding
Lac La Biche County offers limited funding to individuals and organizations attending sporting competitions outside of Lac La Biche County. This funding is intended to help youth, senior and special needs athletes with travel and accommodation costs for provincial, national, or international competitions.
Applications may be submitted throughout the year. Applications are accepted from individuals or sporting organizations.
